We all want our relationships to be sustainable, effective and enjoyable.

We all want our relationships to be sustainable, effective and enjoyable. Common Concern offers a carefully designed tried and tested process to help strengthen and clarify our schools’ social values and communication agreements.  It warmly and clearly helps adults center themselves, feel seen and heard when interpersonal difficulties arise.  It offers a well calibrated approach from “light holding”, when a disagreement needs only a little help to resolve, through to more explicit “close holding” support if tensions rise.

Imagine a community where a differing perspective is accepted and explored rather than seen as an opposing opinion to be mistrusted and contested... That’s a different world.

Our Center for Social Sustainability has worked with over 300 Waldorf schools for over 30 years. We know successful relationships don't just happen, yet they are essential for collaboration among faculty, administration, board and with families. They underpin trust and allow creativity and growth.

We draw on the deep practices and human values of Waldorf Education to help ease social tensions amongst the adults who support the school.

Why wait until an issue has become so entrenched or inflamed that hiring an outside mediation company seems like the only alternative.  So much better to have a proactive process with a team in place that can be used whenever tensions arise.

Leadership Team Development, Mentoring & Co-Facilitation

Each school has its own unique biography. If your faculty and administration have come to place where you share a recognition that help is needed to further the school’s practices for easing social tensions, we can work with you to build this process.

Typically, this is both a live online and audio file based training, and is spread over two years. Our team will work with a small leadership based group to train them in the Common Concern process.

Of course, the Training and Resource Library is also included.

As a part of the training, when needed, we can offer direct support in a conflict situation.  We do this by partnering with a member the Leadership/Common Concern team and together we guide the process and co-facilitate any meetings needed.
